about dr rachel

Dr. Rachel Mann is a music educator based in Brownsville, Texas. She is an associate professor of music theory at UTRGV and senior content developer for the NSF-funded software app, Harmonia by Illiac Software. She has held previous appointments at the University of Illinois, the University of North Texas, and the University at Albany-SUNY. Her research interests include the music and writings of exiled Catalan composer, Roberto Gerhard; DEIB issues in the music classroom; and educational access and technology for all. Her work is published by Oxford University Press, Routledge, Cambridge Scholars Press, Salem Press, and the Journal of Music Theory Pedagogy. She enjoys teaching music to people of all ages, from infants to retired adults, and in her free time, she sings in the Brownsville Festival Chorus, plays Alphorn in local Oktoberfest celebrations, and electric guitar and bass in the UTRGV faculty rock band, The Minör Revisiöns.
